Flamex PF fabric fire retardant penetrates the material and becomes part of its molecular structure. When the treated material is subjected to an open flame, Flamex PF fabric fire retardant will reduce the flame spread and self-extinguish the flame of most fabrics if treated properly. Flamex PF fabric fire retardant is non-toxic and non-hazardous to the environment and simple to apply.
Since Flamex PF fabric fire retardant penetrates and becomes part of the substrate, the life of the flame retardant is indefinite as long as fabrics are not wet washed, however, they may be dry cleaned up to two times without having to reapply. Flamex PF fabric fire retardant is not a coating instead it penetrates and becomes part of the substrate. This product will not alter the structural integrity of the substrate. Flamex PF is often chosen because it is non-toxic, dries clear, easy (spray, brush or roll) application. Once cured (8-12 hrs.)
Flamex PF is used for interior applications such as draperies, wall coverings, furniture, etc. This product is used widely in restaurants, schools, hotels, hospitals, homes and many other commercial and residential buildings.
Flamex PF fire retardant spray has been tested to the following standards: NFPA 255, UL 723 and NFPA 701
Flamex PF flame retardant spray can be applied as is by spraying or immersing. In order to be effective, the entire fabric must be saturated from one side through the other. If the material is thick, a heavier coat may be needed along with spraying both sides of the material. Since all fabrics have a different density a small test should be performed by the utilization of a small flame (butane lighter). Hold a piece of the treated material vertically and apply the flame to the lower portion for 5 – 10 seconds, remove the ignition source. The flame must go out within 2 – 3 seconds. (This test is similar to the small-scale NFPA 701 field test).
Do not dilute. Storage Range: 110 degrees F, to 45 degrees F. Shelf Life- 3 years kept within storage temperatures. A strong compatibility test is recommended.
